Description

Das Seal is a double-acting seal and guide element comprising of a rubber seal, two split support rings and two split bearings, located either side of the seal. The profile seal ring seals in both the static and dynamic range whilst the backup rings prevent extrusion into the sealing gap.The DAS style compact seals are self-acting double-acting seals. The radial forces acting on the elastic rubber sealing element after installation are superimposed by the system pressure. This results in a total sealing contact force which increases as the system pressure rises. Even when no system pressure is present, good sealing is achieved. A wide mounting surface also provides additional protection against shifting or twisting of the sealing element.
Applications:
The DAS compact seal is used as a sealing element for pistons and hydraulic cylinders for reciprocating motion such as earth moving machines, hydraulic excavators, cranes, forklift trucks, hydraulic tailgates, agricultural machines, etc.
Materials:
The inner sealing element is made of nitrile rubber (NBR), or Viton® (FKM) on select sizes, which is extremely wear-resistant and has a low compression set and high tensile strength. The material has a hardness of approximately 75 Shore A. The back-up rings are made from polyester elastomer with protective and additional lubricating additives, and the material is known for its high strength and heat resistance. The guide-rings are made of thermoplastic material reinforced with glass fibres and additional additives. This material is characterized by high pressure resistance and good resistance to alternating thermal stresses.
Advantages:
Closed groove, one piece piston.
Short-overall length of the piston.
Only one groove for seal and guidance.
Low cost production of the piston.
Free selection of piston material.
High resistance to gap extrusion.
No twisting or turning of the elastic sealing element.
Good leakage values.
Snap-on assembly possible.
Can be used to replace many other compact seal design.
Operating Ranges:
Pressure Range: up to 40MPa (400 bar)
Temperature Range: -40°C – +110°C (-40°F – +230°F) *Capable of higher temperature with use of Viton® sealing element*
Speed: up to 0.5 m/s
Operating Media: Hydraulic fluids and lubricants based on mineral oils.
